About the Vision
This Foundation started as a vision based on compassion and desire to alleviate the sufferings of indigent widows. From my Pastoral experience of a few years, I was able to identify with the needs and deprivation of the widows around us. Many I discovered were going through different levels of hardship and difficulties ranging from inability to get decent daily meals, payment of their children school fees, homelessness, no means of livelihood and even inability to access and get good medical attention for the ailing ones, which I saw resulted in the deaths of many.
I saw pathetic situations of many going about picking empty plastic bottles and disposed cartons from bins and gutters to sell to recyclers, for stipends, just to get a meal for the day. These coupled with instructions I read from the Holy Bible compelled me and a few friends to put financial resources together, monthly, to start a feeding program and financial empowerment scheme to help them
With the growing number of the widows and the increase demands of their needs and welfare, coupled with the dwindling economic situation of our country, we decided to establish this Foundation to
- Create a global awareness of the plight of African widows.
- To help to provide them a Haven, where they can access some basic human needs
- Get compassionate men and women all over the world and even institutions , Governments and their agencies, organizations and bodies to join us carry out this humanitarian work of alleviating the sufferings of these beautiful souls.
We have a data base of more than 700 women that attended these feeding programs since inception and an average of 200 women monthly who come and go home with food items that can sustain them for a week or two, depending on the size of the families.
We have also given out cash tokens of Up to N150,000 per widow to boost existing trades or as a start up token, for more than 50 widows. These have been according to our financial strength. All these came from personal donations of myself and my few friends as I earlier stated.
The core programs for this foundation are
- Free feeding for widows.
- Providing free medical and health care services for widows.
- Providing welfare support to widows emotionally, financially and socially during their challenging periods.
- Empowerment.. The foundation aims to empower widows by offering resources, education, and training programs to help the become self sufficient and regain control of their lives.
- Advocacy and Awareness. We intend to raise awareness about the issues and challenges faced by widows, pressing for rights and promotion of their social inclusion.
- Financial Assistance. We intend to provide aids to those who face financial hardships, including daily living expenses, education expenses for their children, payment of hospital and other medical care bills, as well as supporting those in small trade businesses.
